Start from the job you need done
Every tool below handles one document job inside this browser tab: join pages, shrink a file, turn phone photos into a PDF, or strip private details before sending. Search by name or pick a category; your file never leaves your device.

No tool matches that search. Try another phrase or choose All tools.
Match the tool to the job
Think about what the finished file should look like, then pick the category that describes the change. Pages in the wrong order or spread across files call for the organize group: merge a rental packet into one document, reorder or drop pages inside it, or pull a few pages out for a separate send. A file that is fine but too heavy belongs to Compress PDF, where you name a target size and the tool reports the number it reached.
When the source is not a PDF yet, start from its format. Phone photos go through HEIC to PDF or JPG to PDF, scanner output through TIFF to PDF, office files through the Word and Excel converters. Before a file goes to a stranger, run Privacy scan to see the author name and software trail it carries. And when a PDF refuses to open at all, Repair tries to rebuild its structure so the pages come back.
What all of them share
Each card above opens a working tool, and each tool follows the same pattern. The page loads a PDF reader and a PDF writer as ordinary code, then runs them on your machine: nothing is uploaded, there is no queue, and no account is asked for. Your original file is only ever read, so every edit lands on a copy and the source stays exactly where you left it.
No result is trusted blindly. After the work finishes, the tool opens the new file again with the same reader a viewer would use, counts its pages, and counts the selectable characters that survived. A result that lost content is discarded, and you get a plain message instead of a download button. Read how it works for the full sequence of read, write, and check. Once the page has loaded, even the network can drop: the code is already in the tab.
Two limits worth knowing first
Because the work runs on your device, the ceiling is how much memory one browser tab can claim. A thousand-page scan with full-page images may exhaust an old phone while the same file processes fine on a laptop. When a huge file stalls, split it into parts first or move to a machine with more memory; there is no file size cap set by PDFGym itself.
A file locked with a password is refused up front rather than halfway through. Open it first with Unlock PDF using the password you already know, then run the unlocked copy through the tool you meant to use. Nothing here guesses or recovers a password nobody knows.
Before you pick a tool
- Do I pay anything or sign up?
- No. All of them cost nothing, ask for no account and do not count how many files you run. PDFGym has nothing for sale right now.
- Where does my document go while a tool works on it?
- Nowhere. The file is opened, processed and saved inside the browser tab on your own device, and no server receives a copy.
- What happens before the download button appears?
- The finished file is reopened in the same tab and read back. Tools that touch text compare how much of it survived, and a result that fails its check is shown as an error instead of a download.
- How big a file can I use?
- PDFGym sets no size cap of its own. The real ceiling is the memory your browser tab may use, so a laptop handles files that an older phone cannot.
