JPG smudges hard edges; PNG keeps them. This page draws your chosen PDF pages as lossless PNG pictures at 96, 150, or 300 DPI, reopens each one to confirm its dimensions, and delivers a single file or a ZIP of many. The document never leaves your device.

The manual screenshots that had to stay sharp

When diagrams travel as pictures, every blurred label becomes a support ticket. Export lossless and the labels survive any zoom.

A docs writer needs the setup diagrams from admin-guide.pdf, 30 pages, for the company help center. She opens the file here, picks 150 DPI, chooses pages 12-14, and presses Convert to PNG.

The ZIP holds page-012.png through page-014.png, each reopened and dimension-checked before release. The flowcharts embed crisply at any zoom, and the internal manual never left her machine. When the help center later asks for JPG thumbnails too, the JPG sibling renders the same pages lighter.

Four passes from PDF to PNG

  1. Open the PDF

Press Choose a PDF, or drop the file on the page. It opens and reads entirely on your device.

  2. Pick resolution and pages

Choose 96, 150, or 300 DPI, then All pages or Choose pages with entries such as 1, 3-5. The format stays PNG throughout; there is nothing else to pick.

  3. Convert the pages

Press Convert to PNG. Each chosen page draws on a white sheet at the requested size, and progress names the page being drawn.

  4. Check and download

Every PNG is reopened and its dimensions matched against the page at the requested DPI. One picture downloads under the source name; two or more arrive in a ZIP of page-001 onward files.

Picking a DPI for lossless pages

Resolution sets the pixel budget. An A4 page draws about 794 by 1,122 pixels at 96 DPI, light enough for thumbnails and quick looks. At 300 DPI the same sheet carries nearly ten times the pixels, so fine print survives deep zoom, and the 150 default splits the difference for documentation and sharing. Take the lowest setting that keeps your smallest label legible.

Lossless means exact: type, charts, line work, and flat color store pixel for pixel, with no halos and no smudged edges. The price is weight on photographic pages, where millions of barely-different pixels all demand storage. For scans and photos, PDF to JPG trades invisible detail for much smaller files, and the combined PDF to images tool lets each job pick its format.

Page choice stays simple. All pages converts the document front to back at the 150 default, while Choose pages takes singles and ranges such as 1, 3-5, drops duplicates, and still exports in document order. Out-of-range numbers are rejected with the valid span named, so a typo never silently skips pages.

What PNG cannot do for you

PNG saves pixels, not meaning. Text turns to ink, links die, and a scanned contract stays just as unsearchable as the PDF it came from. When the words must live on, export text rather than pictures.

Weight is the other wall. A photographic page at 300 DPI can dwarf the source PDF, and poster sheets can trip the 40-million-pixel ceiling with the page number named. Answer heavy pages with JPG or a lower DPI, and remember every render lands on white, so transparency does not survive the trip.

For visual archives, PNG at 300 DPI is the faithful pairing: contracts, invoices, and reports frozen pixel-exact. Padded names keep the set sorted, with page-001 ahead of page-010 in any file manager.

When another format wins

Photos and scans travel lighter as PDF to JPG. One multi-page file for records comes from PDF to TIFF. Untouched originals stored inside the PDF come out through Extract images, and selectable words through PDF to Markdown.

Why exact copies stay on your device

Contracts and statements deserve better than a stranger queue with hourly quotas and watermarked pictures. Drawing, checking, and packing all happen where the PDF already sits, with no account and no stamp on the images.

The reopen pass is the download gate: each PNG is decoded again and its dimensions matched against the page at the requested DPI. A mismatch withholds the file rather than shipping a broken picture into your docs. The source PDF itself is never altered by the run.

Short answers about PDF to PNG

Why is one diagram PNG bigger than the whole PDF?
Vectors draw cheaply and pixels store bluntly. The PDF describes a line once; the PNG paints every dot of it. That is the honest price of lossless.
Can I convert just the odd pages?
Yes, by listing them: Choose pages takes singles and ranges such as 1, 3, 5-9. There is no odd-even shortcut, but explicit lists cover it.
Will hyperlinks still click?
No. Pictures carry no links, no selection, and no structure. The source PDF keeps all three untouched.
Is 300 DPI always sharper?
Only up to the source detail. A 150-DPI scan redrawn at 300 gains weight without gaining sharpness, so match the setting to the original.
How do I get one file instead of a ZIP?
Convert a single page and it downloads solo. Two or more always pack a ZIP; for one multi-page file, use TIFF instead.
Can I switch to JPG on this page?
No. This page locks the format to PNG so docs work stays lossless. For JPG output or per-job switching, use PDF to images instead.
