Work with PDF pages

Page jobs move whole sheets and leave the print on them alone: text stays selectable, pictures keep their pixels, and the file barely changes size. These guides cover moving, dropping, splitting and turning pages, each with the tool that does it in the tab.

Reorder PDF pages

Name the page job first

Every page task is one of five moves. Say which one out loud before opening anything, because two of them look identical until the download, and picking the wrong one is how the only copy of a sheet goes missing.

Organize pages shows every sheet as a thumbnail for dragging, dropping and cutting apart. Split a PDF saves the ranges you name as separate files, and Rotate and crop turns sheets or trims their visible window. Sheets arriving from a second file travel through Merge PDF first.

Work from pictures, never from numbers

A thumbnail shows the upside down scan, the blank back and the duplicate at a glance. A page number shows nothing until you open it. Do the whole job with your eyes on the pictures: drag the thumbnails, click the ones to drop, and read the result the same way.

Numbers mislead twice. Printed folios skip covers and blank backs, so printed page 7 can be the tenth sheet of the file, and every tool counts sheets from the first one. Always translate printed numbers into sheet counts, covers included, before typing a range. One written line, printed 7 to 9 equals sheets 10 to 12, prevents the classic wrong sheet deletion.

Mistakes that ship the wrong pages

The most common is deleting by the printed number: the plan said folio 7, the tool removed sheet 7, and the cover sheet took the fall. Count from the first sheet of the file and the error disappears.

Next is cropping for privacy. A crop narrows the visible window while the covered paragraph stays in the file, readable to anyone who widens the view or selects across it. Crop for layout only; what must disappear needs true redaction, which rebuilds the sheet without the content.

Then the hurried send. Page moves fail quietly, a swapped pair reads fine until the second sheet, so page through the download once and count against the plan. Keep the source file until that check passes. Storage is cheap and rescanning is not.

Short answers about PDF pages

Does moving pages change what is on them?
No. Reordering rewrites the page order and touches nothing else, so text, pictures and links on each sheet stay exactly as they were.
How do I drop pages with nothing installed?
Print the file to a PDF printer and name the sheets to keep. It works offline in any modern print dialog, with no thumbnails and no way to reorder.
Does turning a sheet make the file bigger?
Practically never. Rotation sets a flag on the sheet instead of redrawing it, so the size stays the same.
Split or extract: what is the difference?
Splitting saves ranges as new files and usually retires the original. Extracting copies sheets out while the original stays whole. Decide which file should survive before you click.

Fix your pages now

Everything happens in this tab. The file stays on your machine while you drag its thumbnails, and the new order downloads when you approve it.
