Turn BMP images into a PDF

or drop them here
Choose at least one JPG or PNG image first.

Turn legacy BMP bitmaps into one PDF that opens anywhere, without uploading them. Each bitmap is decoded in this browser tab and stored as a lossless page, usually far smaller than the original. The finished file is reopened and measured before the download appears.

Bitmaps in, one PDF out

  1. Choose the bitmaps

Press Choose images, or drag .bmp files onto the page. Each file is decoded in this tab, thumbnails gather under Image order, and nothing is uploaded.

  2. Order the pages

Move files up or down with the arrow buttons. Each bitmap becomes one page in the numbered order on screen.

  3. Pick size and margins

Match image wraps each page around its own bitmap; A4 and US Letter frame every bitmap on standard paper, turning wide ones sideways. Add None, Narrow, or Standard margins.

  4. Create and download

Press Create PDF. The file is reopened, pages counted and measured, decoded dimensions confirmed. Download PDF appears named after the first file with -bmp added, for example spindle-diagram-bmp.pdf.

What the decoder does with raw pixels

A BMP file is pixels with the wrapping left off: often no compression at all, which is why a simple diagram can weigh megabytes. This page decodes each bitmap in the tab and stores it as a lossless PNG image in the PDF, keeping width, height, and a usable alpha channel. The output is usually much smaller than the input, with no pixel changed.

Bitmaps carry no rotation tag, so nothing turns behind your back: pages show the pixels exactly as stored. Before Download PDF appears, the reopen check confirms the page count, every page size, and each image's decoded dimensions.

If the result still needs slimming for mail, Size breakdown shows the heaviest pages and Compress PDF trims them.

Which BMP files open here

The decoder reads common Windows and OS/2 bitmaps. Anything outside the list is refused with an explanation instead of a broken page.

Rescuing diagrams from a retired PC

The workshop's old milling machine still runs, but the PC holding its manual gave up, and the backup folder speaks a dead dialect: spindle-diagram.bmp, wiring-1998.bmp, torque-table.bmp. The program that made them is gone, and the new laptop has no viewer that opens them all.

Drop the three bitmaps here, order them diagram, wiring, table with the arrow buttons, and choose A4 with Narrow margins, since these pages go into a printed binder. Press Create PDF and spindle-diagram-bmp.pdf lands ready: three pages in reading order, every pixel where the nineties put it.

Print the binder or mail the file; either works from here. To add fresh notes beside a diagram, open the result in Edit PDF; to file it with the machine's newer paperwork, join them with Merge PDF.

When a bitmap refuses to convert

When a different route fits better

When there is exactly one bitmap and a viewer already opens it on your machine, the print dialog's PDF printer does the job without this page. Come here when there are several files, an order to set, or no viewer at all.

When the folder mixes bitmaps with photos or scans, Images to PDF converts several formats in one run.

Questions about bitmaps in a PDF

Why is the PDF smaller than the BMP files?
Uncompressed pixels are the norm in BMP, so most files spend bytes freely. The PDF holds the same pixels with lossless PNG compression, which usually takes far fewer bytes.
Do 32-bit bitmaps keep transparency?
Thirty-two-bit bitmaps with an alpha channel keep their transparency in the PDF. Viewers show the white page beneath it, as usual.
Can I mix BMP with other formats?
No, this page reads BMP only. Convert each format on its own page and join the results with Merge PDF.
Is there a size limit?
Files share the tab's memory, and one image past 80 megapixels is refused outright. Ordinary diagrams sit far inside both.
Will pages come out rotated?
No. Bitmaps carry no rotation tag, so pixels appear exactly as stored. On fixed sizes the sheet itself turns sideways for wide images.
